Подробности наблюдения
One was feeding in Bamboo c.500 meters north of offices and lodging, along the main trail. The identification of the bird was not immediately obvious but the structure of the bill, with such a noticeably curved mandible strongly suggested that the bird was either S. falcirostris or S. frontalis. The bird then flew off into the bamboo. We used playback of S. falcirostris to call the bird back and it came after around 30 seconds, allowing us to take some clear photos. In the photos it is possible to clearly see the lack of buff tips to the coverts, as well as the rather ‘plain’ face. There is a small white patch at the base of the primaries, which matches photos on WikiAves of S. falcirostris. The white belly and breast contrasting to the buffy flanks and breast also match to individuals photographed on WikiAves as S. falcirostris. The only seedeater seen regularly at this site, according to eBird data, is S. caerulescens, which is clearly not the identification of this bird.
