Подробности наблюдения
Initially assumed to be a hybrid. Further input by others suggest that the mallard ancestry of the Mexican Duck allows for some greenish coloring on the cap and nape as well as some curved feathers in the tail. Based on location not too far from the Colorado River and other features of the bird itself such as the yellow bill, dark cap and eyeline contrasting with the lighter neck and uniformly dark body, this bird is apparently a good candidate for a Mexican Duck.
