*** Rare, Rare Song. Initially heard singing a loud, unfamiliar song suggesting but not matching Northern Waterthrush or Yellow-Rumped Warbler, from tree perches about 15 feet up; song in two sections, first- about 8 rapid (~8/sec) phrases, increasing intensity, second- 3 phrases, slower, lower pitch; I believe it is a female interaction song. The song area was about 100 feet by 50 feet on a low, muddy land often flooded in spring, recently about 2 ft under water, probably flooded when the bird arrived. The bird was viewed briefly just enough to see that it had a rich yellow head, neck & breast; dark beady, eye; and gray wings. I left as soon as I had an ID so as not to disturb any possible nesting attempt. No obvious nesting cavity was noticed. Audio attached .M4A format recorded on iPhone7 from about 25 feet away. Target species for block. access only by boat.
