Подробности наблюдения
I had just finished birding at Point Lookout when I received a timely text from a friend (Mike C.) relaying info about this bird. I drove over to field 6, walked down to the ocean, looked west and saw some birders ~1/4 mile away. I started walking quickly toward them, but only got about 100 yards when I spotted the murre...swimming east toward me. I stopped and let it approach. It eventually reached and then passed me. Over the next few minutes I followed it as it steadily progressed eastward, about 100’ off the beach. It was in view most of that time, occasionally disappearing in troughs between waves. Larger alcid with bill intermediate between RAZO and COMU. Black upper-parts, white underparts. Black extending from crown down below the eyes. Auriculars dark. Dusky throat with a narrow blackish collar at the lower margin. Narrow white tertial crescent.
