An African Woolly-necked Stork drinking then preening. The African Woolly-necked Stork (Ciconia microscelis) is widespread in sub-Saharan Africa, and is found in a wide variety of wetland habitats, grassland and woodland. AfricanWoolly-necked Storks are carnivorous, taking a wide variety of vertebrate and invertebrate prey. They sometimes attend carcasses to feed on maggots and adult flies and beetles attracted to the rotting flesh. This Woolly-necked Stork was standing on one leg in the shallows of the Renosterpan Waterhole in Kruger National Park, drinking then preening. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: April 20, 2019.
