A Rattling Cisticola perching and preening on a grass stem in wind. The Rattling Cisticola (Cisticola chiniana) is one of the most conspicuous cisticola species in South Africa. They occupy a wide range of habitats from savanna, dry woodlands and semi-arid shrublands. Rattling Cisticolas often perch in prominent locations to call. They eat a range of small invertebrates. This Rattling Cisticola was perching and preening on a grass stem in a strong breeze on Mankwe Drive in Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa. Elevation: 1305 m. Date added to IBC: April 9, 2019.
