A swimming male on a lake. Note the other present birds: An immature/female-type Freckled Duck, another male Freckled Duck,.....Grey Teal and Australasian Grebe.Endemic to Australia. This species can be very hard to come by. A highly nomadic and rather rare species, and its very difficult to predict its occurence anywhere. Around 25 birds were present at Herdsman Lake during my visit. During the rest of my year I only saw one other bird at Hart Lagoon (SE South Australia). Elevation: 7 m.
