Подробности наблюдения
A nice spot by Matt Brady. Feeding on the mudflat with other shorebirds, though not in with a flock. A bird undergoing prebasic molt, so with a patchwork of dark and light feathers below. Mid sized plover with longish legs and short bill. Quite long winged with long primary projection. Mottled above with dark and a pale yellowish brown. Below dusky with a few large black areas. Prominent white supercilium that extended behind the eye and down the side of the head to the chest. Pluvialis squatarola would have been much paler above lacking the brown tones, while fulva would have had a shorter primary projection and is highly unlikely. Structure also looked better to me for dominica, being relatively short legged and stocky relative to what I would expect from a fulva. Andre got distant photos.
