Подробности наблюдения
Originally reported and seen by Tony K. as well as Lizzie F. and David F. on the other side of the slough. Many other observers were able to have glimpses of it throughout the high tide period. Best observed and ID'ed while in flight while it was calling. Initially observed it come in from the bay and land with a group of LBCU, where the majority of the body was covered by vegetation. A PEFA came stooping down which flushed many of the shorebirds causing us to briefly lose the HUGO. Relocated again by flight calls which sound similar to a MAGO, but higher in pitch as well as shorter notes. Initial ID features for the Hudwit were best described by Tony about the black tail. When seen in flight, the dark rectrices between the white rump and the dull gray/brown back would really be apparent in the setting sunlight. Seen headed south at 19:30 with 3 other MAGO's which we were able to observe the significant size difference between godwit spp.. Would be worth checking Eureka and or South Hum. Bay in AM.
