Подробности наблюдения
Stood out immediately due to their large size relative to the barn swallows they were flying among. Apart from the size the flight style was clearly swift-like with rapid wingbeats and twisting fast erratic flight that made the swallows look slow by comparison. All black color and boxy tails helped differentiate from white-throated swifts that I’ve seen at this location before. At least two, but possibly three or more, hard to tell as they disappeared up into the clouds occasionally. At one point as the rainfall got heavier two of the swifts were flying as low as the streetlights in the southern parking lot, close to the golf course pond. Very familiar with this species from WA. Will post photos soon. I’m curious if these swifts are from Jemez Falls or Nambe Falls nesting locations or maybe a different unknown nest site??
