Подробности наблюдения
Interesting buteo seen at a distant and flying gliding to the north only 100-300 feet above ground, then harassed by a few crows before resuming direct flight. My first impression from a distance was Red-shouldered Hawk based on flat glide and visible wing panels. Size appeared "medium" sized and larger than mobbing crows. Took some distant photos and did not think much more about it until reviewing photos. This is a dark morph bird that appears to be an immature and molting flight feathers, giving the appearance of broad pale wing panels. Wings appeared very pointed but may be an artifact of the molt. Tail does not appear to have any broad subterminal band(s). Bill appears grey/blue with dark tip. Legs appear light. Photos attached. My best guess is a dark morph red-tailed hawk.
