Примечания
Note the Killdeer swimming with the wigeon. This was in fairly deep water, in Lincoln Basin. 18 February, 2019.
Подробности наблюдения
One of the strangest sights I've ever seen involving a Killdeer (or almost any shorebird for that matter, other than a phalarope). We noticed this group of about five Killdeer flying in towards our side of Lincoln Basin, and four continued to the near shoreline, while one just plopped down among a flock of American Wigeon, in fairly deep water, and then just started swimming around for at least a minute or more. When we started leaving it was still with the wigeon, gradually swimming closer to the shoreline, but not in any apparent hurry to join the other Killdeer on the shoreline. Pretty strange.
