Подробности наблюдения
Continuing bird originally found by Kimball Garrett. Large, tall, gray wading bird with "bustle" on rear end, and bright red forehead. Confusable with Great Blue Heron when seen poorly (especially with its head tucked in, which is how we first found it), but with good views easily distinguishable by smaller head/bill than GBHE, red forehead, "bustle", and different posture. Hides in the reeds surprisingly well for such a large bird, especially when it holds its head down. We first found it at 7am on an island at the south end of Big Piute, while we were scoping from Ave C. It often moved completely into the reeds, where it was not visible. We found it again at 8am in the reeds at the northeast corner of Ducks Unlimited Pond, southwest of the dirt road. At 8:10am it flew north across the road and landed in the tall grass roughly at the intersection of Teal Pond and Big Piute. It was still visible there when we left it.
