NOTES: Unseen birds were singing from inside terra firme forest at edge of a small clearing in a valley floor right at the beginning of the Aguas Claras Road; the bird highlighted was right near the edge of the forest (probably 25-30 m away and in the mid-levels), but the second bird was farther back; it was difficult to be certain, but the forest at the edge at least seemed somewhat broken here with the trees relatively small and the understory very dense (possibly second-growth where this bird was singing); I suspect the frog-like call at the beginning of the cut was by this species as well; this was recorded just as it was getting light; low clouds, calm, probably in the mid- to upper 60s; note that the announcement for this cut is found at the end of cut #CAR05-36); [= CAR060, CAR061 (in part - announcement), CAR170 (GPS coordinates)]. ML: Background subject changed from recordist's original identification of Xiphorhynchus guttatus eytoni to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [eytoni Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 1.55). -Jay McGowan/Matt Medler, July 2015. Other Behaviors: Counter Singing, Advertise. Habitat: Rainforest, Evergreen Forest, Edge.
