Подробности наблюдения
Small Empidonax flycatcher. The combination of conspicuous eyering, short primary projection, and lack of green tones to the upper parts of the bird limit options to Dusky and Least Flycatcher. The bill on this bird is relatively short, thick at the base, convex along the edges and largely pale colored underneath, all of which are consistent with Least Flycatcher. Other points that favor Least Flycatcher are the relatively short tail, dark wing panels with contrasting white wingbars and tertial edges, rounded head, vested look on the breast, contrasting light throat, and overall coloration. Changed perches repeatedly, using both inside and outside of dense vegetation. Tail flicks were upward. Call note a “whit!” similar to Dusky Flycatcher. Call delivered repeatedly over a long period of time (approximately 1 hour), more calling than typical of a Dusky Flycatcher. Call note also higher pitched than Dusky Flycatcher – reminiscent of chip-note of “Audubon’s” Warbler, of which many were present for comparison. Recording of bird included in attached media.
