The dove's head occasionally would pop into view. In this photo, the pink-based bill is visible.
Подробности наблюдения
While walking north along east Duckbill, I saw a small gray-brown dove flush from the ground, fly a short distance and drop below tumbleweed plants along the east shore of Duckbill. I saw maroon underwings and the dove's short squared-off tail in flight. I climbed over the berm and walked south along the shore and the dove flushed again flying a short distance east of the shore (again showing maroon underwings). John Birsner joined me and we saw the dove fly north and later southwest, dropping into weeds on a thin "island" that runs parallel to the east shore. We scoped where the dove dropped (north of a small tamarisk "tree") and saw the dove's head and back occasionally pop into view through the thick weeds. I viewed the dove's pink-based bill and the scaly appearance of the head. Very poor photos but decent enough looks to identify.
