NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut #95. Bulk reel #524 Weather: Fair. This is a typical habitat for bouvronides but I did not see any water. A river runs through there somewhere but I don't know how close or if there is other water I didn't notice. There were many bouvronides singing when I first stopped at 6:40 AM. a) 6:50 AM. Natural song; bird "duelling" with neighbors. Bird #1, short and long phrases. Quality: 2 (traffic noise). Level: +3. 203 tape. LN. 3.75 ips. b) 7:05 AM. Bird #2, natural song. Mostly short and semi-long phrases. Quality: 1. Level: +3. 3.75 & 7.5 ips. LN. (Sparse to medium mottling; one tiny white dot visible in center of forecrown.) This bird actually has relatively little (practically none) white on crown and it was only by chance that it showed sometimes on the living bird. Even with the freshly collected bird in the hand it could be seen only as a speck. c) Bird #4, after playback. Quality: 2. Level: +3. 3.75 ips. LN. (Sparse to medium mottling; no white visible on crown.) Note: Bird #3 (Numbering refers to order in which birds were seen.) d) 8:20 AM. Probably Bird #2. Quality: 1-2. Level: +3. Calls and song; the final calls are definitely after playback; the first part of recording may be after playback, but probably not immediately so. Quality: 1-2. Level: +3. 7.5 ips. LN. This bird then collected = male #[blank].
