I spent quite a while observing a pair out on the old pier at the end of 79th street, doing some pair bonding and courtship dances. The male departed several times to catch food for his mate, feeding her a few fish - and at least two cockroaches, which I didn’t notice until I looked at the video later on. Such cool birds. Their social behaviors are fascinating.
