Originally I received a video and photos of a Limpkin strutting through a construction zone from Jess Maguire who knew this was something out of the ordinary and wanted further confirmation that it was indeed a Limpkin. I coordinated with Stephen Maguire to start searching the neighborhood where she originally saw the bird about 45 minutes prior, knowing this bird had to be refound. I got in the car and headed around the neighborhood scanning yards until I saw the gait and clear profile of a Limpkin and slammed on the brakes. Long slightly decurved bill almost half and half orange by the base and black towards the tip. Brown body covered with white speckles on the neck and back. Grayish, Long legs with large heron like feet. Completely black eye. I got steve on the bird and began taking a bunch of photos while trying to get the word out. Thank you to the kind neighbors for letting us into their yards to keep eyes on the bird and get confirmation photos. People began showing up and getting eyes on the bird when I had to take off. Seen by many after the fact
