Detalhes da observação
This bird was the reason why I came out in the first place. I saw it on the driveway near a puddle foraging. I grabbed my camera and binoculars and headed it for a quick (about 15 minute) photo shoot of the bird. It was a bright, unmistakable, scarlet red bird with jet black wings. To my surprise, it was down low on the ground and low down bushes, rather then being in the more common location for a scarlet tanager, that is, up high. There may have been a female along with the male but I am unsure and therefore shall not add it to the list. However, there was (at the time of the male flying away) a drab yellow/olive colored bird that flew in the opposite direction of the male. I found it in some bushes near the ground next to the road, and so I took the great chance to snap a few pictures of the bird. I did so successfully and in the process got some positive ids on some other species. The male had grabbed a bug from a nearby leaf (as seen in some of the pictures) and sat there with it as it watched me take some pictures. It eventually flew away but let me get some pretty good pictures despite the lighting and all the strong wind.
