Detalhes da observação
Photos and details TBA. **very rare in the state, though likely overlooked in appropriate habitat. Fantastic find by Brian Cammarano back in January, who kept tabs on these guys and got the word out. (30.3283930, -87.2936139) - originally found at these coordinates; the birds were wary and moved around some. North towards the seawall and eventually West beyond the wall. Relocated and moved back towards original coordinates. One bird vocalized "chuck" call a couple of times while flying around one of the residency chimneys. Very pallid, low-contrasting meadowlarks. The facial markings are more light-to-moderate brown than the darker brown/black markings of Eastern. notably the post-ocular line. The malar regions showing some yellow bleed. The whitish flanks offset by dull yellow with blotchier, more spotted marks than thing streaks, along with spotting intruding onto the breast are highly suggestive of Western vs Eastern. The tail sports thin dark barring and when displayed in flight, the limited white to the three outermost rectrices, notably the outer two, all support Western.
