Detalhes da observação
At the bridge working both sides here: (33.1991619, -115.5970800). Views were initially brief from the car but we immediately recognized this bird as Tropical due to its extensive bright yellow underparts that transitioned to an olivey toned upper breast. The auriculars contrast some with the throat, but nothing like a the contrast seen on a Cassin’s. We refound it perched on salt cedar and got better looks at its long notched tail and long, thick bill. It flew several times giving us additional looks at its long, uniform colored tail that lacked any white. It never called and because it was quite windy and our attempts to provoke it into calling were unsuccessful. I’m not sure what the reviewers here prefer to do with Tropical/Couch’s, but due to its bill length and the overall likelihood I think eBirding as Tropical makes the most sense. Happy to slash if that’s preferred. Photos to be added.
