Awesome find by John Gunningham this morning!!! After running halfway around the lake I finally bumped into the croud at Gavin's pin around here: 46.0677209, -118.2583443. The warbler was relocated a few minutes later by me, after a couple false alarms from a very odd looking juvenile MacG (vetted for MOWA of course.) The CAWA was viewed for around five minutes, buried in the undergrowth with no more then a quarter of the bird seen at once. It disappeared just as quickly as it had appeared, and after a half hour vigil Elizabeth and I headed out. Along the trail back, we ran into the same flock and upon pshing at them for no more then thirty seconds I observed the CAWA briefly pop up into the open, flicking it's tail, before it then flew back down into the undergrowth. The others arrived a few minutes later and we quickly relocated it along the lake shore where it stuck around, activity foraging for about ten minutes. Eventually continued west along the lake shore with the flock of chickadees juncos and other assorted warblers. Medium sized warbler, maybe a bit on the small side. Darkish slate gray upperparts and hood, large dark eye with tight white eyering, black almost malar looking stripe running from the eye down the neck, yellow throat with spot of yellow in front of the eye between it and the bill. Bright vibrant yellow underparts with thick almost liquid looking black streaking on the chest. Bill was overall large looking, classic warbler shape with pale lower mandible and darker looking upper mandible. Wings and uppertail the same dark slate gray as the back, undertail bright white fading into yellow vent area. Fleshy pink legs and feet. Chip call a heavy "chup" like note, somewhere inbetween a YRWA and a MacG. May have a recording although I don't think it turned out.
