Detalhes da observação
Continuing at a private residence since November 23rd when Ted Theus first saw and photographed it with his phone. Ted's son, Andrew, texted me about it this morning and said his dad got better pics and it looks more like a Broad-tailed Hummingbird (it was originally ID'd as a Ruby-throated). When I saw the photos, I agreed and immediately made plans to chase it. Based on its calls and appearance (short wings, long tail, and large gorget) I thought Broad-tailed was the correct ID. If no one can get a spread tail photo in the coming weeks, it would probably be best to band it. The bird is coming to the feeder regularly, to arrange access you need to contact Ted. Updates are on the GA RBA Facebook and GroupMe. 12/9 Update: Mark McShane got footage showing its spread tail. The notched R2 and broad outer rects look better for a female Rufous :/
