possibly Hammonds flycatcher...Found on Sandy Hook Early this morning, I walked up from the west as a group was further east on the trail looking at a bird. Saw it was a flycatcher and started taking lots of pictures as well as Brain. Not sure who was on the bird first. Bird was seen by Myself, Bob Diebold, Mike Heine, Dan Markowitz, and Brian (last name unsure as well as spelling for theres last names. I sent pictures to Tom Brown and Jeff Ellerbush for help with ID because all of us in the field felt the traits of the bird were off for east coast expected flycatchers (who would all be late at this point). Bird had uneven eye ring, long tail, short wings, peaked crown and white by throat with yellow belly. Asking Jeff and Tom for help they pointed out primary projection and primary stack suggest hammonds and everything else seems good for hammonds as well. It appears to eliminate both trails, westerns, acadian, yellow-bellied, and gray by primary projection and primary stack. This ID is a tough one to make so posting it so it can be heavily reviewed by people with more expertise to make a final decision. If needed I can provide a google album of photos and one quick video for experts to review upon request.
