Detalhes da observação
This bird was roosting with Turkey Vultures in the area where dead cattle are left before removal for compost. It was found earlier this morning by Wally Sumner. While perched and obscured by leaves and branches, I found that finding this bird took some careful study. When I found a bird with a short tail that did not extend past folded wingtips, I figured that was the bird. In addition to the short tail, I noted that the plumage was entirely flat black without brownish edging to wing coverts like Turkey Vultures. I could also see that there were a few ivory colored shafts to the outer primaries. The legs were a bit longer than a Turkey Vulture and ashy gray, not reddish on tibia. I eventually could see the head and see that it was blackish and unfeathered. The bill was elongate compared to Turkey Vulture.
