Detalhes da observação
Karan & I (ronith) were coincidentally discussing the possibility of PGrW occuring in the region while walking into the lake and a few minutes later, Karan initially heard the distant but unmistakable trilling calls of the species from the reeds in middle of the lake. All members in our party subsequently heard a few individuals from close and had amazing views of 2 birds singing, calling in the reeds nearby with a third individual heard calling in the distance. Warm brown & heavily streaked upperparts with the classic Grasshopper Warbler-like giss, white tail tips and buffy breast & flanks. Extremely territorial & never more than a single individual in a reed patch. Kept chasing the Plain prinias, Paddyfield warblers and even the larger Clamorous Reed warblers from their reed patches constantly. Response to playback was immediate, with a mix of trills & warbling notes uttered for a few seconds while darting in & out of the reeds. Surprisingly bold in the morning and allowed extended views, so unexpected!
