Detalhes da observação
When I first heard a selection of tiny, high-pitched squeaks and chimes coming from up ahead, I assumed they would be Silvereyes; after all, the lawns just by the train tracks are a good area for those birds. I set off in pursuit... and... at first, I thought it was a normal old Thornbill perched in front of me on a low branch, so I'm sure my excitement on learning the truth is readily guessed!! There, with its spotted crown, subtle shades, and slender form, was a perfect Yellow-Rumped Thornbill, by first ever for Goulds!!! It soon became apparent that there was a nice flock of them afoot; while they would occasionally venture out into the sun to feed, they mostly stuck resolutely to the shade of the bushes, only flying off when I simply had to go past them to get back home!!
