Wow! Lifer #1000. We found it when it walked across the trail between Chris and I. We both were surprised by the large size, dark color, and buffy color near the base of the legs. Couldn't match it with anything in our book and suspected Black Tinamou, so we emailed local experts and they agreed. Not known from this specific site, but has been seen elsewhere on the east slope of the Andes in Ecuador.
