one clear call at 00:24 may be the only 'chip' from this pewee that I captured; in the field, I thought I was getting multiple calls, but I am not sure why they weren't being picked up. Regardless, this note should be diagnostic and eliminates Western
Detalhes da observação
**early; heard giving Yellow Warbler like “chip” calls but with full and abrupt quality that is distinctive. I initially though it was a warbler but realized what the call was when I got closer and a second before spotting the flycatcher on low brush near the tower; seen very well and a classic Eastern Wood-Pewee with grayish olive upperparts, dull wingbars, faint vest, pale mandible, long primary extension; audio recording and many photos, both digiscoped and SLR; almost without precedent in April; despite many reports of birds heard (=European Starlings mimicking this species) and seen (invariably documentation has shown them to be Eastern Phoebes). There is just one state record for April, from one day earlier (28 Apr 2017 https://ebird.org/checklist/S36330396) and also at a coastal trap.
