with Double-crested Cormorant
Detalhes da observação
State bird; a known bird that we chased. Harry Robinson found it on 3 March, and the St. Johns River Water Management District granted special access this day; it was not seen again. I got some nice photographs (some through Bob Wallace's scope). In direct comparison, it was about 20% smaller and was slenderer than Double-crested Cormorants, with a shorter, thinner neck, a shorter, thinner bill, and a longer tail. The head showed some wispy white filoplumes. the gular sac was yellow and was framed by a white border that formed a "V" shaped point behind and below the eye. One of my photographs was published in the note that I, Bruce H. Anderson, and Harry P. Robinson wrote: "Third record of the Neotropic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus) in Florida, with comments on other recent records" (Florida Field Naturalist 38:93-98, 2010).
