Detalhes da observação
It flew from the west into the south side of the eastern most pond. It was fairly tawny in flight, large, and had a white, deeply u-shaped rump patch. I did not have the scope and spent a while squinting at it at 8x. It was smaller than the stilts, but much larger than the nearby Least Sandpipers and Semipalmated Plovers. The body feathers has a large scaly look as the centers of the feathers were darker than the margins. The upper chest and part-way down the flanks were streaked; the belly was white. The head looked small, the bill slightly decurved. It flew again, and I was able to confirm the rump patch. I returned the following day, May 3, with my scope and digiscoped the bird. The photos here are scans of color prints of the digiscoped photos; the original digital files are lost. The photo shows the eyeline that creates the elongated Cleopatra look to the eye. I believed it to be a female. It was subsequently seen by others; I don't know how many days it persisted.
