Detalhes da observação
When I arrived at Foote Park at dawn, I noticed a pair of calls that didn't sound like songbirds. Initially, I recorded those calls from across the creek. Three hours later when I followed the calls to the side of the creek where they originated, I discovered a pair of raptors that I had not seen previously. They perched in different locust trees and occasionally moved to different trees. Mostly the larger of the two did the calling. I looked them up and determined they probably were Cooper's Hawks. Occasionally the hawks flew from one black locust to another in fairly dramatic maneuvres and called. I gradually edged closer only to find one of the birds near a great horned owl in a large locust! When the owl took off, both hawks followed in close pursuit.
