possibly my worst of many terrible photos on eBird. body shape and tail captured as it scrambled quickly uphill though the brush.
Detalhes da observação
Lifer! After hearing this species at close range calling but unable to obtain looks in Mexico, this was a great sighting and a species we had planned to later make a special stop for near the city where some tamer park birds are known to be seen. But a real bonus to see a "wild" one in the mountains here. it was first startled from near the trail and only glimpsed as it ran downhill away from us. But i had a good view of a gully i thought it would cross and no sooner had lifted my binoculars did the bird rush into the gully, freeze for what seemed like seconds but was likely less than 1, and continued on. But it was a solid focused look at this much wanted bird!! It then continued to traverse below us and back around and i tried to get a photo as it crossed the trail and quickly ascended to steep brush covered slope into the forest. This was the only photo that had the bird in it. I think i fired off 5 shots without looking into the viewfinder.
