Detalhes da observação
It spent most of its time at mid-height to high in the alder trees foraging off and on with flock of birds that included Bushtits, two OCWAs, and one or two PSFLs. It sang a few times in the alders but was mostly quiet. At about 1115 or 1130 it again returned to the shrubs (coffee berry and, I believe, Myrica sp.) inside the Shipley fence and then vocalized quite a bit. In addition to its standard song (chip followed by several burry vireo-like phrases strung together followed by an abrupt ending with the chip again), it gave several other song phrases with some scold like calls – wish I’d had my little camera to record video going at time. Anyway, it showed the two white wingbars on dark wings, grayish head with yellow spectacles (connecting on forehead), and white iris. Underparts were white with yellow on flanks. Doug commented that the shape was distinctive with large head proportionate to body and relatively small tail and I agreed.
