Detalhes da observação
Thrush showing extreme superficial similarities to Gray-cheeked; only visible differences that Andrew & I could pick up was the overall more rufous/reddish brown (warmer) cast to the back and tail, and the extensive yellow base to the bill (both of which hopefully show in the attached photographs, though I couldn't get a tail shot unfortunately). Two audio files of the song attached, taken just before the photographs as we couldn't spot it in the vegetation (I finally saw it, as you can hear me whispering to Andrew at the tail end of one of the recordings). Found earlier in the morning just after 8 AM by Andrew, who texted saying he thought he might have a Bicknell's after seeing it flush out while using playback of its call. I arrived around 8:40 and it took almost 2 hours to refind it in the dense forested area all the way in the back, straight east of the small pulloff parking area on Diamond Springs Road north of Northampton Boulevard.
