NOTES: Cut starts with a single bird circling me, then moves to birds sitting on the ground at nest sites and on a stone wall. [Based on discussion and spectrograms in Cramp et al. (1983. Handbook of the birds of Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa; the birds of the Western Palearctic. Vol. 3. Oxford University Press, Oxford), I believe there are at least three different call-types given in this recording. The first part of the recording has the BEST examples of the Long Call (Figure I; 0:25-0:33) and the Kaw Call (Figure II; 0:06-0:21, 0:50-1:11, 1:15-1:26). These same vocalizations are included after the voice announcement, but the recording is far more busy, with multiple birds calling. I further suspect that many of the clearer calls, especially those after the voice annoucnement (e.g., 2:01, 3:03, and many of the calls after 3:09), are those of L. argentatus. Gag Calls (Figure III) by L. fuscus are restricted to the second part of the recording, where the BEST examples are at 2:145-2:23, 2:34-2:345, 2:41-2:42, and 4:405-4:49. There are also two relatively good Long Calls at 2:29-241. It is also possible that I missed additional call-types. Quality added (2, 2-1) - CAM - 24 March 2005]. Number of individuals=UUc20;. Habitat: Island.
