individual shot of little goose
Detalhes da observação
Updated: Received email from reviewer "There has been much discussion on this bird and after getting many opinions from experienced birders and records committee members we feel that this bird is a smaller subspecies or a runt Canada Goose rather than a Cackling Goose. Cackling Goose should have a smaller more stubby bill and a shorter neck." Original notes: Reported last night by Mitchell Harris. Bird arrived flying in formation with 11 Canada Geese at a couple of minutes past 4:00. Tiny compared to Canada Geese - it was closer to the size of nearby White Ibis than it was to the Canada Goose. Definitely browner on the breast than Canada Geese. It was chased away from the group of Canada Geese a couple of times. Do not believe this is of the Richardson's subspecies because the bill looked too long and the neck too slender (although it may be the way it was holding its head up high).
