Canvasback x Ring-necked Duck hybrid with female redhead for shape and size comparison .

This particular hybrid was originally misidentified as a Canvasback x Redhead .An observant Sean Jenniskens came up with the proper identification and reasoning !! Eye colour amber, mantle colour darker than what would be expected for a Redhead/Canvasback, the feather edge between mantle and flank is very similar to a Ring-necked Duck in shape , maybe a hint of a white spur, more white on the bill consistent with Ring-necked Duck , head colouring appears to be darker than a Redhead/Canvasback, this hybrid is smaller than a Redhead .
