Detalhes da observação
At first glance, I thought this bird was a Yellow Warbler - yellow underparts with yellow going through the tail, brownish/olive back. No distinct facial markings (no supercilium, eyeline, masking, distinct auriculars, etc.). I soon realized the bird was not a warbler - slightly larger than a warbler, tail seemed longer. Tom, who was birding next to me, hypothesized Orchard Oriole. We ruled out Western Tanager because the bird did not have an orange-based bill or yellow wing bars. Probable Orchard Oriole based on small size (photo compares size to a sparrow), bill shape (not as decurved as Hooded), coloring (no orange like other orioles). Unfortunately I wasn't able to photograph before the bird began bathing. Bird seen from small stone bridge overlooking the creek (facing the ocean). The bird did not vocalize.
