Wow lifer! Inspired by Jon Erickson's posting two days ago, I changed my mind and decided to take the time and put the stiff fee to ride the Bridger tram and give it a shot. I walked up to near two red chairs sitting alone and set up shop, scanning the area. Over the noise of the tram, I heard something that sounded odd, turned to look up at a short fir tree maybe 40 feet away and two rosy-finches were right there. Wow. I was taping audio, but the wind was so strong that I can't hear any vocalizations, only me saying "oh my god". I quickly raised my camera and took a perfect shot of the fir tree branch they had just flown away from, but I was able to track and see them land at the top of a fir quite a ways off toward the main gondola and got some rough photos with my 83x zoom CoolPix camera. I stayed up there a while trying to get better photos and I believe I saw them fly by below me about an hour later but they didn't land and I couldn't relocate them. This was especially gratifying as I dipped on Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches in the Eastern Sierra's four times a couple weeks ago.
