Detalhes da observação
Pewee observed flycatching in Jack Green area. Coloration and features subtly different from typical Western Wood-Pewee on several points: 1. The white edges on the median and greater coverts were slightly wider and brighter than typical for Western; 2. The upper and lower wing bars were of approximately the same width and brightness; 3. The lower mandible was entirely orange-yellow; 4. The throat area seemed to be slightly whiter and more contrasting particular when the head was in profile view and the body seen straight on - the gray cheek had a contrasting border where a Western would appear more graduated; 5. The undertail coverts had only weak dusky centers; 6. The upperparts were of a paler gray hue than the sooty hue of Western; 7. There was a thin partial whitish eye ring above and posterior to the eye; Overall the plumage was more contrasting and crisp in appearance than any Western Wood-Pewee I've seen. After a long wait I did observe it infrequently making slightly upslurred "pea-yeeee" calls. Also infrequently gave a "plik" call note.
