Detalhes da observação
The bird was in rocky Pinyon / Juniper habitat on the Leona's Loop trail. It was a small vireo, all gray, with a rounded head and longish tail. Wingbars were not noticeable and there was a white eyeing that was not very bright and not like the "spectacle" of the Solitary Vireo group. The bird was 50-100 feet away and moving fairly quickly between junipers and piñon pines. It did raise its tail a few times. I got several shortcut decent looks with 10x42 Leica binoculars. My initial impression from size and gray drabness was Bell's vireo but the bird was singing a song more like PLVI (but less screechy - see attached recording). Merlin had no guess as to species.
