Lifer, state bird! Very excited to hear about this bird this morning when we were up at Port A. Called the Birding Center and talked to the volunteer who confirmed the bird was being seen, so we rushed down and started looking. We were nervous because it hadn't been seen for an hour when we showed up. After about 10-15 minutes of looking, someone alerted us that it was being seen behind the building so we ran back there and enjoyed incredible looks at this awesome cuckoo. SOO buff underneath, smooth brown gray above, gray crown, black mask, black and yellow bill. Tail pattern similar to YBCU with bold white spots on the tips of the retrices, but black edges of tail feathers not white. Flew from perch to perch, often sitting out in the open giving incredible looks. Fairly tame as well, at one point spent 10 minutes sitting a bush right by the boardwalk as people walked by about 5' away, totally ignored them. Watched it eat a monster wooly booger caterpillar which was fun.
