Detalhes da observação
Possible/probable Tundra (tundrius) Peregrine - very cool-looking bird. Very high up and moving south quickly at 5:45pm. From afar, I initially got excited about it being a possible Prairie Falcon due to it being very light below and having a very notably thin ‘mustache’ (opposed to the thick broad mask more typical of our resident Peregrines). As it got closer, however, there were no dark axillaries on it and the mustache was too thick for PRFA - it was a Peregrine but looked pretty unique. I took distant photos and one digiscope video as well, but the bird was soon gone to the south. I am still doing some more research into Tundra Peregrine Falcons but I think this bird is a great contender. Photos show that it had some blood on its chest.
