Detalhes da observação
Seen a single individual enroute Sangetsar lake. Initially thought of it to be Great Gray Shrike. But was unsure due to lack of distribution in Arunachal. Confirmed as Giant Shrike later by Salehin Md Habib and Sandeep Biswas. The bird flew to a pole where it perched and could be photographed. Long tail was observed in flight, almost giving a Magpie-like first impression. Suggested pointers: 3 similar looking shrikes 1.great grey 2.chinese grey 3.giant shrike. Lack of distribution for Great Gray in this altitude and area. Chinese gray and great grey have a white eyebrow, which is missing in the bird in photograph. Also a faint pinkish wash on underparts is observed that can matched with that of Giant shrike. Chinese gray occurs far away from India, where as Giant shrike occurs near to Tibet and China which are very close to India. Lastly, Giant has longer looking tail which is seen in one of the images.
