Detalhes da observação
Studied both birds for a long time in mostly very good light, sometimes quite close. Both have dark brown upper parts (not black, but that’s fine for BLPH), and white-ish (but not bright white) bellies. Both birds showed some yellow wash on the belly, one bird more than the other, with the usual caution that coloration of the birds depends on the light and what they are perched on or near. (Interesting how different the same bird looks with slight variations in position and lighting.) Both gave calls that Merlin consistently identified as BLPH, and both had quick, high tail flicks like BLPH. Both have crests. Both birds might have some EAPH. Originally called both hybrids but community consensus is that one is indistinguishable from BLPH. Updating accordingly.
