Detalhes da observação
We first noticed this rather lanky bird from its loud, raucous calls. Friarbirds are a bizarre group in the Honeyeater (Meliphagidae) family. They are famously aggressive chasing other birds away from foraging sites. Most have somber plumage, massive bills and bare skin on their head. This species is endemic to Seram Island where it is the only friarbird. It may be identified by its long dagger-like bill and gray nape. It is the largest of the friarbirds and is sometimes called "Grey-necked Friarbird."
