Gray Heron / Great Blue Heron | focus of the day was trying to find the heron that Karina Rathmell photographed the prior afternoon near Thompson Island, which appeared to show bright white wrists, the 'white headligths' we dream of on Gray Heron. The best candidate I had was very distant in flight, but even at 3/4 mile (approx, as measured on Google Maps) the white on the leading edge of the wing was more obvious than I've seen on any GBHE. Will add photos showing this, despite the low resolution. Comparing to others, especially juveniles, on ML this appears to be within the spectrum that GBHE can show. This bird was difficult to see when foraging in the marsh - Brendan McKay spotted it from Black Point Road and we observed it at a distance (with GBHEs in close) from the Libby River stream crossing - never seeing the thighs, including when it was in flight, coming and going. Probably just wishful thinking on a Great Blue at the pale-wristed end of the spectrum, but hopefully someone can see this bird closer/better and confirm it either way.
