Photos. I had taken photos of 2 pluvialis that day from across the estuary, but didn't have a scope to properly study them. Era bobo y I put them down as black bellied as I saw both goldens were flagged and I was new to Costa Rica birding and didn't trust my instinct. A few weeks later 2 american goldens were reported from this same spot and closer investigation my photos show clear golden plovers. Damn.
